Wood and acrylic plaque commemorating Mike Mitchell of Capuchino High School who was inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 22, 2004. Plaque includes image of Mitchelland a brief biography: "He is a legend now. Mike Mitchell, one of the greatest basketball players ever produced in San Mateo County, put up numbers in the late 1970s at Capuchino High School that boggle the mind. A sharp-shooting guard, Mitchell averaged almost 27 points per game during his stellar varsity career. As a senior, he scored 52 and 55 points in two games separated by just a few days. Heavily recruited, he matriculated to Notre Dame University in Indiana but a severe knee injury curtailed his collegiate career." |
