Description |
Christie McCoy Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame Plaque, 2016. Plaque commemorating Christie McCoy of Aragon High School and the College of San Mateo being inducted into the Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame on June 8, 2016. The plaque is printed on silver-colored metal with a 3" x 2.5" photograph mounted to the upper right hand corner. Metal and photograph are mounted beneath acrylic with gold-colored decorative brads onto an mdf wooden base covered in a dark woodgrain vinyl laminate. Top left corner has the 2016 Peninsula Hall of Fame logo which consists of a blue ribbon that reads "20 Peninsula Sports 16" across the base of a green trophy whose base reads, "HALL / OF / FAME" with arcs of 7 blue stars on either side. Color image is of McCoy in white shorts and jersey with red lettering and a black sun visor. She has a black glove in her left hand which is stretched out to the side and a yellow softball in her right hand which is raised above her head. Her legs are bent, she is on a dirt field and appears to be about to release the ball in a pitch. A brief biography is also on the front: "Few fill a softball record book like the ultra-accomplished Christie McCoy. As a fireballing prep pitcher at Aragon High, she was an All-Peninsula Athletic League and All-San Mateo County choice all four years, allowing a grand total of just 10 earned runs during that time. She tossed six perfect games and multiple no-hitters for the Dons. At CSM, Christie was All-Conference and All-State both years. She was California JC Pitcher of the Year in 1995. Later, at the University of Nebraska, she became an All-American as a designated player. She clouted three homeruns in one game (tying a collegiate record) and accumulated 53 round-trippers durng her two years at Lincoln. She played professional softball in North Carolina." The back of the plaque has an oval sticker with the logo and contact information for Spotlight Impressions, the manufacturer of the plaque. |
