Wood and acrylic plaque commemorating Dave Olerich of Menlo-Atherton High School who was inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 23, 2005. Plaque includes image of Olerich and a brief biography: "It wouldn't be an exaggeration to state that Dave Olerich's sterling professional football career happened almost by accident. He didn't play big-time college ball. He was not drafted by the NFL coming out of the University of San Francisco in the 1960's. He originally went to USF to play basketball. A longtime rugby player as well, he got a tryout with the San Francisco 49ers and signed a contract in 1967. He was a tight end and linebacker. He played eight seasons in the NFL and won two more in the World football league." |
