Wood and acrylic plaque commemorating Bill Byrne of Terra Nova High School who was inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 7, 2000. Plaque includes image of Byrne and a brief biography"Bill Byrne threw his first touchdown pass as a freshman in 1978 at Terra Nova High School in Pacifica. He wound up his prep career by leading the Tigers to an unbeaten season in 1981. He was the North Peninsula League player of the year. Later, at the U.S. Naval Academy, he broke 15 school records, including most completions, most yards passing, and most touchdowns in a single game. When he graduated from the academy, he ranked fifth in career passing. He was sixth in total offense." |
