HMS Revenge Model Ship by Charles Parsons is a handmade, wooden square sailing ship. Ship has four sets of sails, two tall in front with three sails each, and two at rear with one, triangular sail each. Sails are held on by triangular deadeyes. Each sail has a round red/white crow's nest. The front sail has a blue and white striped flag with a red cross, and 6 red/white flags on the corner of each sail. The second sail has a white flag with a red cross at top and 6 red/white flags on the corner of each sail. The third sail has a green and white striped flag at top, and the rear sail has a white flag with a red cross at top. All but the very top sails and rear sail have decorations painted on them in the center. The ship has 4 decks. The 1st and 3rd deck are level, with the deck between them (2nd deck) recessed. The 4th deck is the tallest. One sail sits in each deck. The figure head is a gold eagle/hawk and there is a square sail with a flag on each corner above it. There is a black anchor on each side of front. The boat body is painted in ornate blue, red, green, gold, and white bands at top, with a brown center and a yellow base. The rear of the boat has a black ledge with gold circles with stars in the center painted on it, as well as the letters "E" and "R" painted in gold on back, that wraps around the rear. There are 13 cannons on each side, in two rows. Ship is mounted on a dark stained wood base on a dark-blue painted base on a dark stained wood base. |

HMS Revenge Elizabethan Galleon, 1574 Model by Charles Parsons, Model Plans by E. Armitage McCann 1:96 scale, Completed 2001 In 1588, the Revenge carried the flag of Sir Francis Drake during the English encounter with the Spanish Armada. She was one of a group of ships that fought the enemy until a North Sea gale destroyed the Spanish fleet. In 1591, she was part of a small English naval force waiting to ambush a Spanish f leet transporting treasure from the New World. Separated from the rest of the flotilla, the Revenge fought for a day against overwhelming odds before surrendering. The ship sank in a gale with a Spanish prize crew on board. |
