The Yosemite Grant, a federal bill that protected the Yosemite area from commercial interests and established it as a California State Park, was passed in 1864. The area became a National Park in 1890. Yosemite Valley, which is only a small piece of the park but contains most of the park's famous sights, attracts 4-5 million visitors annually. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yosemite_National_Park 05/02/2018] At 2,425 feet, Yosemite Falls is the highest waterfall in the park. It is technically three waterfalls, with an upper, middle, and lower portion. [https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/waterfalls.htm 05/02/2018] |
