Riveting Pipes in Ditch, Chrystal Springs Line Adjoining Bay, 1888. Sepia photograph shows workers digging and installing pipes in a shallow ditch. The ditch runs from the left side of the photograph into the foreground and bottom right corner. The ditch is located on a hill that slopes gently downward into the San Francisco Bay in the background of the photogrpah at top right. Above the photograph a caption written in pink ballpoint pen reads, "BRISBANE IN 1888." Below the photograph, "Rivetting [sic] Pipes in Ditch. Crystal Springs Line adjoining Bay--" is written in cursive script with black ink. |

"Crystal Springs Dam is a gravity dam constructed across the San Mateo Creek, impounding water to form the Lower Crystal Springs Reservoir in San Mateo County, California.
