Untitled [Raychem Alyeska Pipeline Construction], 1975. Color photograph shows construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline using Raychem Corporation heat shrink corrosion protection tape. The image shows a length of pipe propped up along a hill in a forest landscape. A trench is dug parallel to the pipe that extends from lower left to upper right. Half a dozen yellow side boom crawler cranes are positioned in a line along the pipe with additional vehicles carrying fuel tanks nearby. Four silver heating units encircle the pipe near center followed by a machine wrapping black heat shrink tape to coat the pipe. A man wearing overalls and a green jacket stands in the foreground at lower left holding a camera. On the back of the photograph, "212-09j" is handwritten in black ink above center. |
