  2. Army Garrison Cap, 1952 - Uniform, Military

    Army Garrison Cap, 1952. Khaki garrison cap with a peak running from the front to the back. At the bottom, the fabric is folded to make a brim of sorts that extends about two thirds of the way back up toward the top of the cap. One side of this brim overlaps the other in front. The inside is unlined except for a band running around the inside bottom, made of the same woven material.

    Fifty Cents Military Payment Certificate, c. 1968-1970. Payment issued to Calvin (Cal) Kano of the U.S. Army during the Vietnamese conflict. Kano lived on North Delaware Street in San Mateo. He was drafted at 21 in Utah after college and served from December 1968 to December 1970.

    Joseph Dutilh Army Insignia Pin, c. 1941-1945. Small bar-shaped pin with a golden metal clasp on the back. Front is a piece of metal covered in striped woven fabric in various colors; the background is green and brown, and the colors of the Italian, French, and [unknown] flags are narrowly striped across them. Three dark, almost black, metal stars are attached on top of the fabric.

This patch is known as an "overseas" bar. It would be worn on the left cuff of the United States Army Class A uniform with each bar indicating 6 months of overseas service.

    Joseph Dutilh Patch, c. 1941-1945. Patch shaped like the nearly-rectangular blade of a hatchet, with the sharp, curved edge forming the top. Patch has a red background, with an embroidered green pine tree and white mountain on the bottom. At the top is a white embroidered hatchet blade with attached handle, the sharp end angled downward toward the tree and mountain.
