    Butter Ladle, late 1800s. Ladle is hand-carved from a single piece of wood. Bowl of ladle is concave with a flat front that is rounded and tapers back to handle. Four-sided handle has a slight curve upward from bowl and has a square-notched hook at end for hanging. Wood appears to be oak. Used to transfer butter from churn to molds.

    Butter Mold, n.d. Wooden butter mold made of pine with two brass metal hinges. Made of two L-shaped rectangular sections that are attached with three flat-head screws. These two sections are hinged together with two small brass hinges, also attached with flat-head screws. Used to form butter into rectangular blocks.

    Butter Paddle, c. 1920-30s. Unfinished wooden butter paddle is rectangular in shape with vertical ribbing on one side. Handle and paddle are one flat piece, 1/4" thick, and the handle is bulbous on the sides. Ribbed side of paddle tappers at flat bottom.

    Peninsula Creamery Milk Bottle. Brown glass milk bottle from Peninsula Creamery in Palo Alto. Brown glass with white writing on front and back. Bottom is round. Bottle is tall and rectangular in shape. Cross-section is square with rounded corners. Tapers at neck to a small, circular opening. Has a raised glass ring just below the lip of the opening.

    Star Butter Churn, c. 1922-1927. Barrel-type churn for making butter. Wooden barrel with red wooden lid. Lid is mounted with a black iron clamp. Iron crank with wooden handle.
