"Ray Solari, head coach of the Menlo College football program, became a fixture at the South County private school during his we years there. Solari began his tenure with the Oaks when Menlo was a junior college, the only private two-year school in California. / His Oaks became a jojor factor in the Coast Conference, where they posted 7-3 records in 1972 and 1973 and 8-2 marks in 1977 and 1984. His 1985 ream was unbeaten. / After the school went to a four-year operation, Solari's 1986 Oaks went 7-3 and earned a berth in the NCAA Division III playoffs. Overall, Solari's Menlo teams conbined to go 108-105-8. / Solari also coached at the high school level in Southern California, winning four CIF titles from 1956 to 1971." [2009.030.163] |
