Since her college days at Stanford, DR. EDNA "BONNY" RUSSELL has been involved in improving the quality of life for elder citizens. She was a part of a visionary group of women who recognized that older persons were in need of more attention and care in American society. With that vision, she helped build Little House, the first suburban multipurpose center designed for senior citizens in Menlo Park. She has attended every White House conference on aging and has been a member of the State Commission on Aging for eighteen years. Dr. Russell was also appointed by President Reagan to the Federal Council on Aging. She reflects an extraordinary commitment to the senior citizens of San Mateo County through her service on the Commission on Aging for the past nine year, three of which she served as Chair. Dr. Russell was also a founder of the Senior Forum of San Mateo County and has served as consultant and advisor to numerous councils and citizen committees on the Peninsula. |
