"As a youngster growing up, Keith Comstock got his competitive baseball baptism in San Carlos. He spent a lot of time at Burton Park in that community. At San Carlos High School and Canada College, he developed into one of the best left-handed pitchers ever here. He parlayed that craft into a major league career that lasted six seasons. His best campaign came in 1990 when he produced a 7-4 record for the Seattle Mariners. He also pitched professionally for two years in Japan." [2009.030.044] Left handed relief pitcher. He was featured in a June 1990 Sports Illustrated article in which they stated he, "had more cups of coffee than Juan Valdez" and that in 1983 he was sold from the Oakland A's to the Detroit Tigers for $100 and a bag of baseballs, which he had to deliver himself from one minor league spring training camp to the other. |
