"Kevin Bass got his baseball start on the sandlots and youth league fields of the South County. Later, at Menlo School in Atherton he excelled on the diamond. He went on to become a major league outfielder for 14 years, beginning in 1982. He played for five different big league ballclubs before retiring after the 1995 season.
