She is a member of The Thirty and One Artists of San Mateo, The Menlo Park League, of Menlo Park, The Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society and the Society of Western Artists of San Francisco. She is a graduate of the New York School of Applied Design - and has an Associate Degree in Art from Packer Collegiate Institute of Brooklyn, New York. Edith took up the study of watercolor painting in 1972 with Artist Instructors of the San Mateo Recreation Department and the Sequoia Union High School District Adult School. She has attended workshops of many of the finest artists in the country. Her paintings are in permanent collections in Alexandria, Virginia, North Ireland, Osaka, Japan-and the Bachelor Officers Quarters, Treasure Island, San Francisco. She exhibits regularly in the Juried Shows of the Society of Western Artists, and has won First Place Awards in many of the Local Juried Art exhibits. Most of her work is outdoor painting on location. Nature is the best teacher and there is beautiful subject matter all around us. She feels that if one can train one's eye to see it, analyze it, and develop a painting with the mood and atmosphere surrounding it, one can have a most delightful experience." |
