Advertisement text: "Pete's Harbor HISTORY Pete Uccelli, a man who still doesn't have a boat of his own, created one of the few privately owned harbors in California. In 1955, seeing the tremendous upsurge of interest in boating, and the sad lack of adequate berthing for the increasing number of private craft, Pete found 26 acres of marshland in Redwood City and had an idea. Over the well-meaning protests of friends and family, who thought he was a dreamer, and in spite of insurmountable demands of government bureaucracy, Pete went forward with his plans. In the face of tremendous odds, he created this picturesque haven for Bay Area boating enthusiasts. And in 1957 the first tenant dropped anchor here. It is now one of the busiest harbors in the South Bay, with more than 100,000 people a year enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of Pete's Harbor. Knowing that boating people are hungry people, Pete set out to do something about it and his first hamburger stand, operated by Mexican-born Rafael Garcia, became famous for "Great" hamburgers. Still on hand to supervise the preparation of the fine food is Rafael Garcia, your co-host Pete himself. and Chuck Major. Harbor House is a "come-as-you-are" restaurant which is open for breakfast, lunch, or dinner 7 days a week, holidays included. It's a place where the whole family, from Grandpa to the kids, can enjoy themselves." |
