Image of 2017.048.002 - Great Eclipse Glasses, 2017. Cardboard glasses printed with an image of outer space on the outside frame. The front of the frame is rectangular, though the bridge is cut in the shape of a parabola for the nose. The image printed on the frame shows a reddish planet just below and to the side of the left lens; a bright light, presumably the Sun, is above the right lens. There are images of stars scattered around the frame of the glasses. The lenses are covered in a opaque black film and are small and have a rectangular shape. Right above the bridge is written "Great / Eclipse." The temples are large and rectangular with the only round edge being the temple tip. If the temples were to be held straight out the glasses would form one continuous line on the top with only the bottom portion having any variation in cut and design. On the right temple is written "Aug. 21, 2017 / The next total eclipse won't be until Apr. 8, 2024 or Aug. 21, 2045!" The inside of the frames is white. On the inside of the right temple reads, "Do not use for more than 3 consecutive minutes. / Use eclipse glasses at all times when sun is visible." Just as the temple turns into the temple tip, it reads "Meets the Requirement / for ISO 12312-2:2015." On the temple tip there is a logo showing a globe with lines of longitude and latitude with bold, black letters printed over it, "ISO." On the inside of the left temple, it reads "Children should use with adult supervision only." On the left temple tip, there are stylized letters "C E" with the words "Made in China" printed below them.
