Description Kreiss Wedding Dress, c. 1900-1905. Hand-sewn c. 1900-1905 dress worn by Alice Alma McCormick (1884-1917) when she married Frederick Wilhelm Kreiss (son of Michael and Josephine--owners of Kreiss Pioneer Brewery in Redwood City). Dress consists of bodice (A), and skirt (B) and underskirt (C). Black taffeta underskirt (C) has a smooth layer on top that covers a pleated layer to give fullness to the skirt. Bodice (A) and skirt (B) have a matching brown brocade rose motif on a royal blue ground. Bodice (A) has a bustle in back, 12 brocade buttons up the front and a small half-circle pocket at the proper left side of waste. Long sleeves are cuffed with a single matching button on each.
