Description .50 Caliber Shell, 1944. One of three brown metal shells that is cylindrical in shape. The bottom narrows and then widens to a lip. At top the body narrows and ends with a finished edge. The bottom has the engraved letters reading, "D M" and the number reading, "4". The bottom also has an engraved circular ring with three notches. The shell was manufactured at the Des Moines Ordinance Plant in Iowa.
