Description Ice Box, 1907. Rectangular wooden ice box with two cabinets. Two cabinets have scalloped metal hinges and metal lever door handles. Sides of ice box has wooden paneling and back has wooden slats. Metal lined inside cabinets.

Provenance Used in Milton's childhood home in La Honda - father had it built for his mother 1907 when they got married. Moved it across creek and when Milton was 5 years old, Milton slept in it over the creek.
Notes "Well into the 1930s, households used large blocks of ice to keep food cold in “ice boxes.” Some households chilled food only seasonally, taking advantage of cold temperatures by keeping perishables in the cellar, on the porch, or in window box refrigerators..." decorated with some etched designs on the front exterior surface. They included two
