Description Wood and acrylic plaque commemorating Steve Shafer of College of San Mateo who was inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 21, 2007. Plaque includes image of Shafer and a brief biography: "In a nutshell, football is in Steve Shafer's blood. He's been involved in the sport throughout most of his life. At the College of San Mateo, beginning in 1968, he spent eight quality seasons, three of them as head coach of the Bulldogs. / Shafer, who played in the Canadian Football League, went on to coach at the four-year college level and then in the pros. The culmination of his pursuit of excellence came in 2000 when, as an assistant head coach, the Baltimore Ravens won the NFL's Super Bowl."
