Catalog Number RF2003.064
Description McCormick "Daisy" reaper. Large seated mower eliminates the need for a buck rake. When it cuts the grain, it mows it, puts it on the platform and then sweeps it off so that it is in a row. The platform and sweeping rakes, two vertical and one horizontal are wood. Iron metal cutting blades are located at right front corner of platform. One blade is vertical extending above height of platform and other is horizontal extending its entire width. Small iron wheel on right side of platform with lever behind it to adjust angle of platform. Large metal wheel on left side just left of wooden beam. Iron seat is mounted to a vertical flat iron bar with horizontal footrest at end and is mounted just left of wheel very close to vertical spinning rakes. Moving metal chains and disks allow rakes to spin when reaper is in motion. Tin metal lidded box and open cup holder for an oil can are mounted to the beam in front. Wooden platform is lined with a tin sheet and wooden sides were once painted red but paint has all but worn off.
