Description Wood and acrylic plaque commemorating Kim Schnurpfeil-Griffin of San Mateo High School who was inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 23, 2005. Plaque includes image of Schnurpfeil-Griffin and a brief biography: "Determination and dedication. That describes Kim Schnurpfeil Griffin to a tee. In the 1970's at San Mateo High School, she latched onto long-distance running when a coach spotted her potential in a conditioning class. She thrived in that discipline, becoming a Northern California cross-country champion in the process. At Stanford University, she as an all-American and NCAA champion in a variety of distance races. Today, she is a physician working in the critical care unit at a New York hospital."
