Description Raychem Corporation Fuquay-Varina Commemorative Plate, 1982. Aluminum based alloy plate made by the Wilton Armetale Company. The bowl has a 1.5" rim surrounding a shallow reservoir that has a molded image of the Seal of North Carolina. The seal shows two figures that represent Liberty and Plenty, who look toward each other in a landscape with mountains at left and a ship in a body of water at right. Liberty, on the left, stands holding a pole with a cap on it in her left hand and a scroll with the word "Constitution" inscribed on it in her right hand. Plenty, the figure on the right, sits with her right arm half extended toward Liberty holding three heads of grain. She places her left hand on the small end of a horn that is resting next to her on the ground. Fruits and vegetables are visible filling the mouth of the horn, which rests at her feet. Within the seal, the date "May 20, 1775" appears above the figures and "April 12, 1776" appears below. Text in a border around the image reads, "THE GREAT SEAL of the STATE of NORTH CAROLINA / ESSE QUAM VIDERI." "RAYCHEM CORPORATION / FUQUAY-VARNA, N.C." is inscribed on the plate rim at top center, and "DEDICATION / MAY 10, 1982" is inscribed at bottom center. The overall dimensions are 10-7/8" x 10-7/8" x 7/8". The back of the plate is stamped with maker marks at center left on the bottom of the reservoir that include, "(c) WILTON COLUMBIA, PA USA," "RWP" encircled, and a shape that resembles a branch within an oval. A larger stamp of the branch within an oval appears at center right on the bottom of the reservoir, and a larger stamp of "RWP" encircled appears on the bottom of the plate rim at center left.
