Description Plaque commemorating Mark & Dave Schultz of Palo Alto High School being inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on July 23, 2015. The plaque is silver acrylic mounted with golden screws onto a dark wooden base. Plaque includes image of Mark and Dave. Dave is on the left with a beard and wearing golden laurel wreath and a blue tracksuit with red trim, he is holding a marker and jokingly pretending to autograph the medal his brother is wearing around his neck. Mark is on the right, also in a blue track suit with red trim and wearing a medal around his neck. Both of them are smiling, Dave is looking down and Mark is looking at the camera. A brief biography is also on the front, "When it comes to male wrestlers who hail from the peninsula, no duo has surpassed / what the Schultz brothers did during their long and successful careers. No one else / has come close. They have defined success, at all competitive levels, in the sport- / state, national and international. Both were gold medalists in the Olympic Games; / both won NCAA championships. They dominated California prep wrestling in their / weight classes in the 1970s at Palo Alto. Both are regarded as being among the finest / athletes ever to perform-in any sport-in California history." The front of the plaque also has the Sports Hall of Fame logo as well as sponsoring information. The back of the plaque has an oval sticker with the logo and contact information for Spotlight Impressions, the manufacturer of the plaque.

"Mark Philip Schultz (born October 26, 1960) is an American Olympic and 2-time World champion freestyle wrestler and a Distinguished Member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame,[1] the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame, and the California Wrestling Hall of Fame.

He and his older brother Dave Schultz, also a wrestler, were noted for both winning gold medals in wrestling in the same Olympics (1984). The Schultzes were the only brother pair to win both World and Olympic championships. The Schultz brothers won more NCAA, U.S. Open, World, and Olympic titles than any American brother combination in history."

David Leslie "Dave" Schultz (June 6, 1959 – January 26, 1996) was an American Olympic and world champion freestyle wrestler, a seven-time World and Olympic medalist. He coached individuals and teams at the college level and also privately. He was shot and killed by John Eleuthère du Pont, a millionaire philanthropist who sponsored the private Foxcatcher wrestling team at an amateur sports center known as Foxcatcher Farm he set up on his estate in Pennsylvania.
