Description Plaque commemorating Dick Stuart of Sequoia High School being inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on May 18, 1993. Plaque includes image of Stuart and a brief biography: "Dick Stuart may have been ahead of his time. A slugging first-baseman out of Sequoia High of Redwood City, he was a home run-hitting sensation right from the moment he entered his teens. He signed a professional baseball contract after his senior year at Sequoia in 1951 and immediately began terrorizing the minor leagues. Playing for Class A Lincoln, Neb., he crushed an unheard-of 66 homers in 1956. He moved up to the majors and lasted 10 seasons. Perhaps his finest big league campaign was in 1961 when he launched 35 homers and drove in 117 runs for the Pittsburgh Pirates. His slugging percentage was a gaudy .583 that year."
