Description Plaque commemorating Tom McBreen of Serra High School being inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 4, 2002. Plaque includes image of McBreen and a brief biography: "In his competitive prime in the 1970s, Tom McBreen was one of the world's fastest swimmers. The Serra grad matriculated to USC where he quickly became an all-American in the pool, setting world records in the 400-meter freestyle. He was a silver medalist in the Pan American Games in 1971. Swimming for the U.S. in the tragically ill-fated 1972 Olympic Games, he was a bronze medalist in the 400-freestyle. In his senior year at USC, he was captain of a Trojan team that won the NCAAR championship."
