Description Plaque commemorating Bob Svihus being inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on May 28, 1991. Plaque includes image of Svihus and a brief biography: "Bob Svihus, a three-sport star at Sequoia High School in the early '60s, would make his indelible athletic mark in football, always seeming to be on the right team at the right time. / Svihus helped the Cherokees dominate San Mateo County football. They never lost a game with Svihus on the team and reularly played before crowds numbering 10, 000 fans. / He then attended collegiate powerhouse University of Southern California where he earned all-Conference honors as an offensive lineman. In 1962, he helped the unbeaten Trojans capture the Rose Bowl title and national championship. / Svihus became the Oakland Raiders' No. 3 pick in the 1965 draft. He was a starting tackle as a rookie, and he played with them for six seasons, including the 1968 Super Bolw season , before giving way to Art Shell, the current Raider coach. / Svihus finished hi pro career protecting Joe Namath's knees with the New York Jets."
