Description Wood and acrylic plaque commemorating John Wetteland of College of San Mateo who was inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 5, 2001. Plaque includes image of Wetteland and a brief biography: "John Wetteland, who pitched at the College of San Mateo in 1984, signed a professional baseball contract a year later. It didn't take him long to make it to the top of his craft. His 12-year long career in the majors took him to four different ballclubs. As a relief specialist, he wound up with 330 regular season saves and seven more in the post-season. With the New York Yankees, he was MVP of the 1996 World Series. A severe back injury ended his career after the 2000 season."
