Description Plaque commemorating Wally Bunker being inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on May 25, 1995. Plaque includes image of Bunker and a brief biography: "In the long and storied history of prep baseball in San Mateo County, there might never have been a more overpowering pitcher than Capuchino High's Wally Bunker, a tall, flame-throwing right-hander who simply overwhelmed his opponents. In the early 1960s, Bunker was simply the best - perhaps the best ever. He made it to the major league level one year after graduating from the San Bruno school. In 1964 while with Baltimore of the American League, he fashioned a 19-4 record, with a 2.69 ERA. He was named the AL's top rookie pitcher. During his major league career - which was hampered by arm problems - Bunker produced an overall 60-52 record, with a 3.51 ERA. He pitched in more than 200 games and 1,080 innings."
