Description Betmar Sunhat, c. 1940s-1960s. White colored wide brimmed hat is comprised of a woven straw-like material that has a slight sheen. Crown has straight sides and a rounded top that is slightly creased. A white satin ribbon forms a band around crown at brim and ends in a large bow at the proper right side of hat. Hat is completely woven with the brim turned up at edge and sewn flat, forming a hemmed edge. "Betmar" label is sewn to interior.

Notes Betmar New York was founded in 1933 and is still operating. The company got its name from its first hat designer Betty Marks.
