Description Plaque commemorating Gregg Tafralis being inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on May 19, 1992. Plaque includes image of Tafralis and a brief biography: "Gregg Tafralis, a graduate of Capuchino High Schol in San Bruno, won the United States Indoor Shotput championship in 1986. He captured a silver medal in his specialty in the 1987 Pan Amercan Games and competed for the U.S. team in the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, Korea. / Tafralis, who also attended Skyline College in San Bruno, suffered a 2 1/2-year ban by The Athletic Congress for competing in South Africa in the late 1980s. / As of April 12, 1992, the ban had been lifted and the 290-pound Tafralis was seeking a spot on that year's United States Olympic team, again as a world-class shotputter. The 1992 Olympic Games are scheduled for Barcelona, Spain."
