Description Oriental Rug, c. 1900. Woven wool rug has a large red ground rectangle in the center surrounded by alternating brown, blue , brown white, blue and brown borders respectively. White, green, blue, gold and brown geometric shapes on red ground have box "windows" and pointed "roofs" and possibly represent buildings. Inner blue border is filled with a row of burgandy, white red, brown and gold X-shapes with a line going through and connecting them. White border has multicolored triangles on either edge bordering multicolored +-shapes. Top and bottom ends have 1/2" white fringe.

Provenance According to letter on file: Cottage bedroom set belonged to Mr & Mrs. Valentine Hussy, donor's great aunt and uncle and early residents of San Mateo County. Mr. Hussy was the first Postmaster of Redwood City. Also, desk and photograph of Mrs. N.J. Smith, an early resident of San Carlos. Includes other articles such as photographs and books.
