Description Wedding headdress worn by Helen Way on February 4, 1939. Decorative lace headband worn by Helen Way during her wedding in 1939. Ecru-colored lace forms a 3" tall crown with a point at top center two more on sides above ears. Front of lace has a floral motif with a large decorative half-oval in the center below the center point. It is attached to ecru-colored tule that is wrapped around a wire frame: two bands of wire form an arch at the base of the tule for encircling one's head; extending up from the base wires are seven individual wires supporting the points and the space between them; finally, a third length of long wire is attached at the top so that lace "crown" can stand on its own. The base of both points of the arch are attached by a length of white elastic cord wrapped in tulle upon which ecru-colored plastic flowers with yellow-colored centers have been attached with thread. A second black-colored elastic cord hangs loose to be placed beneath wearer's hair to secure headdress in place.
