Description Plaque commemorating Bob Peterson being inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on May 25, 1995. Plaque includes image of Peterson and a brief biography: "In the late 1940's, Sequoia High in Redwood City found itself with a basketball force to be reckoned with: Bob Peterson. / A 6-5 center who savored physcial contact, Peterson established himself as one of the dominant big men in the west Bay Area during his heralded prep days. / In his senior season , the Cherokees went unbeaten and won the Peninsula Athletic League championship. Later, he attended the College of San Mateo and then matriculated to the University of Oregon where he established a single-season rebounding record that still stands - 465 total rebounds - in 1952. / Peterson, after serving in the U.S. Army, played for the NBA's New York Knicks for two seasons, collecting a total of 233 rebounds in the process. / A back injury ended his professional career in 1956."
