Description Raychem EZF-59 Drop Cable Connectors, c. 1990s. Used in cable television installation, this Raychem Corporation product contains a set of 12 pieces of hardware for making connections on series 59 coaxial cable. Twelve cylindrical metal connectors are stored in a red plastic rectangular-shaped cassette. Connections would be made by first exposing conducting wire at the center of the coaxial cable with a preparation tool. The end of the cable was placed into the cable connector while it was held in the plastic cassette and the bare wire would go through a channel at the center of the hardware. The connector would be removed from the end of the cassette and the preparation tool was used to compress the inner sleeve. A small piece of plastic inside the connector formed a mechanical seal around the wire. White repeating text on the side of the plastic cassette reads, "Raychem EZF(R)-59 MADE IN DENMARK."
