Description Wood and acrylic plaque commemorating Bob Melvin of Menlo-Atherton High School who was inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on June 10, 2003. Plaque includes image of Melvin and a brief biography: "Baseball is Bob Melvin's life. Ever since he started playing the sport as a kid growing up in San Mateo County in the 1970s, he has been inexorably attracted to it. As a ballplayer, he progressed through Menlo-Atherton High School and various youth leagues. Later, he signed a professional contract and worked his way through the minor leagues to the point where he carved out a 10-year major league career as a backup catcher. Late in 2002, he was named manager of the Seattle Mariners."
