Description Capitol Lawn Trimmer & Edger, c. 1930-1950. Two wooden handles attached perpendicularly to long square wooden shaft that attaches to metal mowing/edging mechanism. Mechanism consists of circular metal wheel attached to circular metal blade. Also consists of rotating metal blades and metal frame opposite of wheel. Capitol Trademark mower/edger used around edge of lawn Granite State Mowing Machine Company, Hinsdale NH USA, SECEST Pat (c. 1930s????)

Notes "The company [Granite State Mowing] was purchased by William S. Howe in 1911. Under his management Granite State Mowers gained a national prominence. By the 1950s the firm was making hand and power lawn mowers which were shipped to all parts of the world. The company last appeared in business directories in the 1960s, thus ended more than a century of manufacture for Hinsdaleā€™s Granite State Mowers."
