Description Muslin Nightcap with lace trim, c. 1892-1899. Lightweight cotton material is decorated throughout with a floral motif comprised of an embroidered stem with three eyelet openings at top, an embroidered round flower to the right and an embroidered single leaf to the left. Attached to the outer edge of entire cap is a lace band decorated with small dots and a ribbon pattern at outer edge. Cloth, stitching and lace are all ecru or slightly off-white in color. Back of cap is gathered with extra material so that it extends to back of neck. Appears to be machine stitched.
