Description Plaque commemorating John Noce being inducted into the San Mateo County Sports Hall of Fame on May 28, 1991. Plaque includes image of Noce and a brief biography: "John Noce has coached more than 365 baseball players at College of San Mateo over the past 30 years and has touched countless other lives through his love of baseball. / His teams have won more than 750 community college baseball games, by far the most in California state history. That figure represents a winning edge of better than 65 percent. / CSM has won 13 Golden Gate and Big 8 Conference titles. College of San Mateo teams have reached the state championship game four times and the Northern California title game on seven occasions under Noce. / In 30 complete seasons, the Bulldogs have had 28 winning records. Noce has seen 197 players go on to four-year schools, 69 players sign professional contracts and eight reach the major leagues. / Noce, who grew up in Richmond, came to the College of San Mateo as a student in the late '40s. He lived in a dorm at the Coyote point campus and played baseball under Herb Hudson. / Noce is a veteran of two campus changes and is the only baseball coach CSM has known since moving to the hilltop."
