Description c. 1943 Belair Shipyard Looking Aft with Steel for the Bottom and Side Shell in Place. Black and white copy print from the US National Archives Belair Shipyard Collection. Image depicts rebar extending up the sides of the interior of the ship form. Multiple sections of metal scaffolding extends across the width of the entire interior of the ship. There is wooden decking a railing above and along the outside edge of the ship. White text below image reads, "LOOKING AFT. STEEL FOR THE BOTTOM AND SIDE SHELL IS IN PLACE. FORMS FOR THE BOTTOM POUR ARE INSTALLED AND SOME / OF THE POURING PLATFORMS ARE IN PLACE. APPROXIMATELY 70% OF ALL REINFORCING STEEL WAS PLACED BEFORE ANY CONCRETE / WAS POURED. USMC CONTRACT M. C.
