Collection Archival Collection
Object Name Negative
Category Photographs
Date 1964
Description Daly City Houses Near Skyline Boulevard, 1964. Black and white negative shows houses in Daly City, California off of Skyline Boulevard. A guardrail appears in the foreground of the image near the bottom in front of a hillside with similar looking rectangular houses. Aside from their color, the houses are nearly identitcal with one another. Another row of houses appear in the background at upper left up onto the undeveloped crest of the hill. Telephone poles jut up from the streets. Daly City housing developments such as these inspired Malvinia Reynolds to write the popular satirical song "Little Boxes" in 1962.
