Description c. 1943 Belair Shipyard Looking Aft Placing a Longitudinal Bar. Black and white copyprint from the US National Archives Belair Shipyard Collection. Image shows workers in hard hats standing on a metal grid on the interior of a ship with very tall numbered walls on either side. There are perpendicular bars extending from wall sections. A ladder/platform unit is at center left. A long pole extends the length of the center of the ship and workers are lined up in a crescent holding a rope or curved pipe.
