Grandmother's Flower Garden Parlor Table Cover, c. 1840. Grandmother's Garden quilt pattern with colored flowers on a black background with black embroidered centers, all comprised of small hexagons mounted to a pink silk brocade ground with a gray silk backing and stitches around the edges only. Pink ground has selvage edges at top and bottom and added selvage edges to sides. Paper-pieced silk parlor table cover has maroon 3.25" fringe around sides and bottom. Three burgundy and tan pillow ticking loops are present at top for hanging. Consists of 7,747 pieces and was awarded a medal at an exhibition of the Massachusetts Charitable Mechanic Association in 1860.
