The badge is made of metal, and sterling silver. The badge is shaped like a star with round tips on the ends with a inside squiggly design surrounding the front of the badge, and a design of a thin lines across the inside of each side of the star. In the middle of the badge, at the top, painted in blue, the text reads "POLICEWOMAN". Below the text above, in the middle of a curved design, the text reads "1". Below the text above, in between two lines, the text reads "SAN MATEO". The text "1" is bigger than both of the text above. On the back of the badge, engraved and in bold, the text reads "PRESENTED TO  /  IRENE  FARRELL  /  JUNE 26 - '26  /  BY  /  T.F. BURKE  /  CHIEF OF POLICE". Lamination is a clear rectangle with rounded edges and a oval hole towards the top center. The paper is white with red and black print. The top of the paper is red with "Raychem" in white. On the left is a square color picture of Alan H. Bushell. Picture's background is red. Bushell's head, neck and part of shoulders can be seen. He is smiling and has brown hair and brown eyes. To the right of the picture the paper is white with black writing identifying Bushell. The lower right corner has Bushell's signature. Back of the paper card is white and blank. Badge holder (B) is black and clear plastic. The front is clear, rectangular plastic sheet with a half circle cutout at the top. Three of the edges seal to a piece of black rectangular plastic with rounded edges to form the pocket for the badge. The black plastic is textured on one side.  Above the open end of the badge holder is a plastic arm. The arm is formed of two rectangles and folds behind the badge holder. The smaller rectangle houses a magnet which matches up to another rectangular magnet on the back of the badge holder.

Image of 2016.015.002.32 - Alyeska Pipeline Service Company Identification Badge, 1975. This is a rectangular laminated Alyeska identification badge issued to James C. Thompson for the Trans-Alaska Pipeline construction project. A color photograph of Thompson against a green and white diagonal striped background fills the upper half of the badge. Thompson has medium length brown hair and wears a light colored collared shirt and wire rim glasses. The lower half of the badge shows printed lines with information typewritten in black ink. Text reads, "CONT - CONSULT [construction consultant]  /  J C THOMPSON  /  Med Alert NONE  /  [Social Security number crossed out in black ink]  /  James C Thompson [cursive signature in blue ink]  /  Signature  /  RAYCHEM.” A large `P' in black ink on a square of pink paper is adhered to the bottom left corner, and a sticker with “Alyeska” in black ink on a clear plastic background is adhered vertically at center left over the photograph and printed information. There is a 0.125" x 0.5" hole at top center for attaching a strap. The back of the badge has a torn adhesive label with a white background and a black and red horizontal stripe at center. Partial text is visible. From top to bottom, “A [black ink]  /  WOR[illegible, printed diagonally in red ink]  /  0 [illegible, red ink]  /  0 [illegible] 19  /  [illegible, black ink] S: OCT 3 [red ink].” Thompson notes that the text on the back of the badge was likely entrance and exit stamps from the various construction camps working on the pipeline.
