Scope & Content WWII Poster of Norman Rockwell's Freedom From Want, 1943. The poster is a Norman Rockwell painting of the inside of a house with a smiling large family on each end of a large dining room table with the matriarch holding a plate with a turkey and the patriarch standing behind her in front of the table. Above the painting is some text, in large and in bold, that say "OURS ... to fight for". Near the bottom of the painting, there is some text that says the name of the artist "Norman Rockwell". At the bottom right hand corner of the painting, there is some tiny text that says "Painting from the Saturday Evening Post". Below the painting, there is some text, in large and in bold, that says "FREEDOM FROM WANT". Below the text above, in tiny font, the text reads "OWI Poster No. 45. Additional copies may be obtained upon request from the Division of Public Inquiries, Office of War Information, Washington D.C. / U.S. GOVERMENT OFFICE PRINTING OFFICE : 1943-O-511886".
