Scope & Content War Shipping Administration Training Organization Certificate of Appreciation for the Contribution to the War Effort made by the California Jockey Club, circa 1941-1946. This certificate is from the War Shipping Administration, Training Organization. The certificate is awarded to the California Jockey Club, "In recognition of patriotic contributions made toward the War Effort in connection with the recruitment and training of merchant seamen by the Training Organization of the War Shipping Administration, this citation is hereby awarded". The certificate has the signatures of the Deputy Administrator of the War Shipping Administrator and the Assistant Deputy Administrator for Training. The emblems of the United Stated Maritime Service and the U.S. Merchant Marine - Cadet Corps are also on the certificate.
